Race Director

About the Director

Time Out! Productions (T.O.P.) is the idea of Rich Havens. Over 25 years ago, Rich entered a triathlon on the urging of his sister Liz and completed the very first Hyannis Sprint Triathlon in June of 1983. Nearly last out of the water, Rich passed a few bikers and ran like the wind finishing 67th overall. Following this spectacular finish, Rich was hooked as he went on to compete many triathlons springing up around the region. He has also completed four Ironman-distance races and in 1987 completed a solo trans-continental triathlon (5,600 miles in 68 days).

In 1985, Rich went from a triathlete to a triathlete/race director by leaving his hotel career and joined DMSE as Executive Director of the New England Triathlon Series. Since 1985, Rich has directed over 300 triathlons, road races and other events (Finish Area Coordinator for the BAA Boston Marathon and Signage Director for the Hawaiian Ironman Triathlon).

Ask any triathlete who has done a Time Out! Productions event and they will tell you about their wonderful experience. All Time Out! events are safe, well-organized, staffed-well, fun and much more!

"How does Rich bring you the best triathlons?"

The answer is: Teamwork!

There are many hard-working, dedicated people who believe in Rich's meticulous vision of delivering the best racing experience. But the most important member and leader of the team is his wife, Rosemarie. Rich and Rosemarie are very happily married and are truly the spirit of Time Out! Productions. Rosemarie can be seen mostly coordinating race registrations, but another important task (according to fellow Time Out! Team Members) is "coordinating" Rich, when he gets out of hand.

Time Out!

"I have finally fully recovered from the Falmouth Sprint Triathlon and an opportunity to write.  I want to let you know that you put on a fantastic race, everything from the pleasant volunteers, the organizational structure of the transition, and making the race spectator friendly, (my wife truly appreciates it!)

In addition, if you would like to take credit for the beautiful summer weather I will give you that because you and your company deserve a great deal of thanks for the wonderful job you do.  Suffice to say, I have been doing your races for years and plan on continuing to make the trip from New York to the Cape for your races.

Keep up the great work!
