Simple Goals for the First Race

Set your sights on being able to complete the distances for your first race in one training day. Try to accomplish this at least two weeks from your race.

Example: you are entered in the September Hyannis Sprint 2 Triathlon. On, around or by August 15, take a day to swim 1/4-mile (18, 25-yard out-and-back lengths of a pool), bike 10 miles and run 3.5 miles. Split it up during the day...or, better yet, do the events back-to-back-to back for the full experience.
